Grants Pass and North Medford saved some of their biggest hits for the late innings during Friday’s Southwest Conference baseball doubleheader at George Russell Field.
The Cavemen rallied late and eventually claimed a 4-3 walk-off victory in nine innings over the Black Tornado in the opener. As for the nightcap, North Medford scored seven unanswered runs for a 10-3 win to salvage the split.
A 42-year-old man accused of sleeping in a vacant Redwood Avenue house overnight, accidentally leaving his phone and wallet inside with the doors locking behind him, then trying to get back in through a window, was arrested at 12:15 p.m. Friday on charges of trespassing and third-degree criminal mischief.

The Britt Music & Arts Festival has announced the last of the concerts for the summer season at the outdoor Britt hill in Jacksonville.
Rock icon David Lee Roth is set to play with his band on July 16. Roth was the front man for the early Van Halen and later had hits as a solo artist. Tickets are $85 and $92 for reserved seats, $77 for standing room only and $69 for the lawn.
